Sprague Theatre

The Sprague Theater, located in the Bandon City Park between the library and The Barn community center, is a center for performing arts. The theater was built in 1999-2000 with the initiative of the Bandon Lion’s Club and funds gathered from grants and fundraisers. Since its first stage play South Pacific in September, 2000, the theater has hosted dramas, comedies and musicals, dance recitals, a wide variety of musical concerts, the annual Cranberry Festival’s Cranberry Court coronation, weddings, memorials, movie festivals and more.

Key presenters at the Sprague Theater include:

  • Bandon School District
  • Bandon Showcase A non-profit organization bringing music to the community.  Past performances have included The Voetburg Family performing Irish, Scottish, swing and classical music to name a few; The Vienna Boys’ Choir; The Glenn Miller Orchestra; and The Alley Cats, a fun doo-wop group.
  • MarLo Dance StudioMarLo Dance Studio – a dance school providing dance training to everyone!  They have performed The Nutcracker, The Wizard of Oz, and other great shows.
  • The Bandon Playhouse formed in 1976, community theater at its finest!  Their past productions have included favorite musicals such as My Fair Lady and Oklahoma, dramas like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and And Then There Were None, as well as comedies including A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Steel Magnolias.
  • New Artists Productions offering high quality youth theater projects since 2000.  New Artists has been entertaining Bandon with shows such as The Importance of Being Earnest, James and the Giant Peach, Aladdin, and Fiddler on the Roof.

The Sprague Theater is wheelchair and stroller accessible.  The entrance is at sidewalk level, and there are ramps, no stairs, leading to the seats.

If you are looking for a unique and fully-equipped place to hold a memorial, awards ceremony, wedding, or convention, you may consider the Sprague Theater as your venue.  The Sprague is fully equipped with a spacious and comfortable lobby; restrooms; snack bar complete with a sink, refrigerator, coffee maker, service counter and tables; and seating for 246 (including handicapped seating) in the acoustically correct theater with stage.  Equipment available for your event includes digital and InFocus projectors and screen, microphones and stands, powered speakers, a short grand piano, and a podium.
